The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture on Monday held discussions on the impact of geopolitical developments in West Asia on India’s road infrastructure sector, focusing on possible effects on energy supplies, logistics chains, and infrastructure delivery.
The meeting was held at the Parliament House Annexe Extension (PHAE) under the chairmanship of Janata Dal (United) National Working President and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, Sanjay Kumar Jha.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, in a post on X, said that he will chair a Joint Sitting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture today to examine the ‘Impact of Geopolitical Developments in West Asia on India’s road infrastructure sector’. He added that it is imperative to assess the implications of global disruptions on energy supplies, logistics chains, and infrastructure delivery in India.

The committee held discussions with the Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, on the subject of “Impact of Geopolitical Developments in West Asia on India’s Road Infrastructure Sector.” The discussions come amid global concerns over regional developments and their possible impact on supply chains and infrastructure-related activities.
Coal block auction review also on agenda
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal, Mines and Steel will also hold a meeting later in the day at the Parliament House Annexe (PHA).
The committee will record oral evidence from representatives of the Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Power, and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on the subject, “Coal Block Auction and Allocation Process – A Review.”
