New Delhi on Thursday confirmed that it has received reports about Pakistan trying to infiltrate terrorists into India even as it advised Islamabad to start behaving like a normal neighbour.

“We have been saying for years that Pakistan has been using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Pakistan has an obligation to act firmly against terrorism emanating from its territory,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said at a media briefing. Normal neighbours never behaved in the manner in which Pakistan was behaving. In any case, Indian security forces were fully prepared to deal with any eventuality.

He was reacting to reports that Pakistan-based terrorists and commandos were trying to enter Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force and the Indian Coast Guard have been put on high alert along the Gujarat borders after intelligence outputs suggested that Pakistan Navy-trained terrorists could enter the Gulf of Kutch in small boats.

High alert has also been sounded in coastal Gujarat after receiving intelligence inputs about possible underwater attacks on the coasts of Gujarat and other ports.
