Hours after the Indian Army carried out quot;surgical strikesquot; across the LoC Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday warned Pakistan to stop ldquo;abetting and aidingrdquo; terrorism in the region to ensure peace.
Addressing the media here Naidu said: ldquo;We are a peace loving country but it takes two to ensure peace. Pakistan should realise its responsibility towards ensuring peace in the region.rdquo;
ldquo;India has been repeatedly urging Pakistan that it should not allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities. It should stop abetting and aiding terrorism in the regionrdquo; he added.
Lauding the army’s operation Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the nation that terror acts wonrsquo;t be tolerated and the strike across the Line of Control Loc was fulfillment of the promise.
ldquo;All Indians are appreciating the steps taken by the Indian armyrdquo; he said.
In a joint conference by the Defence Ministry and the External Affairs Ministry Director General Military Operations DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Thursday said that quot;the Army conducted surgical strikes last nightquot; across Line of Control LoCnbsp;based on specific information that quot;some terrorists were at launch pads aiming to infiltratequot;.
Meanwhile the Union government has called an all-party meeting minutes after the operation.
Reacting to the news of the strike Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has warned India and said quot;We condemn this attack our desire for peace should not be interpreted as our weakness.quot;
