The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday, July 6, filed a supplementary chargesheet against Pakistan-based terrorist and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack.

The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu. It has named Hafiz Saeed in his individual capacity along with his role as chief of the banned LeT and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), IANS reported. The accused has been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, as well as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

As per the statement, the central agency has even invoked charges related to waging war against India along with criminal conspiracy allegedly hatched from across the border.

The supplementary chargesheet has been by NIA as a continuation of the original 1,597-page chargesheet. It further details Pakistan’s alleged conspiracy, Hafiz Saeed’s role, besides all the evidence gathered by the central investigating agency through scientific investigation and extensive ground verification.

It had earlier filed the chargesheet in the matter on December 15 last year, wherein the NIA named Pakistani terror handler Sajid Jatt, three terrorists killed during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two arrested accused, IANS reported.

Notably, NIA has even chargesheeted banned LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its alleged role in planning, facilitating and executing the attack.

The terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam took place on April 22, 2025. It involved religion-based targeted killings by Pakistan-backed terrorists. Among those killed were 25 tourists and a local civilian.

Initially, the matter was registered as FIR No. 25/2025 at Pahalgam Police Station in Anantnag district. After a preliminary investigation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the case to the NIA.
