Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that if the opposition parties in Bihar are able to increase their strength then there will be a return of anarchy in the state.

Addressing a rally in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, the PM said that these parties want a weak government at the Centre so that they can do whatever they want.

“If they gain strength, it would mean a return of loots, kidnappings, corruption, hooliganism and murders in Bihar,” the PM told the gathering, referring to parties such as RJD and the Congress which are contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the state as allies.

The PM added that a return of opposition parties would mean a forced exodus of the people from the state.

“These people are eyeing Bihar like vultures. They want to fulfil their selfish ambitions by dividing Bihar on the lines of caste, society etc,” the PM said, accusing the anti-BJP political parties of trying to hide their corruption.

“Those who are in jail, are at the doorstep of jail, are on bail, are running around courts seeking bail – they cannot tolerate a powerful government in the Centre,” the PM said referring to his political opponents but without naming anyone.

The PM also said that the opposition feels squarely defeated with the end of the first four phases of Lok Sabha elections.

“After the four phases of elections, these people feel defeated. The coming phases will decided how big their defeat will be,” the PM said amid cheers from the supporters.

The PM told the gathering that his government will continue to bring back everyone who has fled the country after looting the people’s money.

Accusing the Congress of not taking strong action against terrorism during the 10-year UPA rule, the PM reiterated the resolve of his government to give a befitting reply to terrorism.

Bihar is one of the three states where polling is being held in seven phases. Polling will now be held on 6 May.

The BJP has an alliance agreement with JD(U) in Bihar.
