Taking a dig at the national strike announced by the labour unions from Tuesday midnight is turning into a bandh, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar said it is confined to Kerala.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the trade union strike called at the national level by the Left unions will have its impact only in Kerala as there won‘t be any strike in other states. Kerala is still holding strike-like protests while other states are making economic progress.
“Everyone knows the financial situation of the state government, our state is in a situation where it has to survive on loans,” he said, adding that the BJP is not against strikes or trade unions, it is opposing the strike considering the current situation in the state.
Stating that Kerala at present is the state with the highest unemployment and price hikes in India, he said such strikes would hamper the growth and development.
Referring to CPI(M) state secretary’s statement lauding China’s economic growth, the Kerala BJP chief asked why his party is not learning about the changes that China is introducing in the employment sector and how it is making economic progress.
“It is not a nationwide strike. It is a strike called by the CPI(M) and supported by the Congress. While the CPI(M) may think it represents the nation, it is an extremely small political force, limited to Kerala. It is ironic that a party that has been in government for nine years and has systematically destroyed the economy of Kerala…. is today talking about having a strike and making the life of common people hell… We are today losing our talent, losing our youth. And because we are losing our youth, we are losing investments,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
