National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Thursday reacted strongly to BJP’s General Secretary Ram Madhav remarks questioning NC MLAs loyalty after former Jammu and Kashmir CM had demanded dissolving the state Assembly in fear of “horse trading”.

While talking to a news agency, Ram Madhav reacted to Omar’s demand for dissolving the Assembly, saying, “Why is he (Omar Abdullah) so scared? I’m sure his party men are loyal to him. There is no question of horse-trading from our side. We’ve seen what kind of horse-trading happened in J&K under his party, no body should forget the history”.

Omar replied to Ram Madhav, saying, “Then why not dissolve the assembly? If @rammadhavbjp is true to his word that there is no question of horse trading & clearly no new alliances are being formed then the assembly should be dissolved. Keeping it suspended has encouraged dalals”.

Replying to the question on loyalty of NC MLAs, Omar tweeted; “I have no doubt about my MLAs but we all know what happened in the PDP after Mufti Sb died & the sort of pressure that was applied to Mehbooba Mufti”.

The controversy triggered due to the Assembly was kept in suspended animation by Vohra, while imposing the Governor’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speculations were rife in political circles that such situation might give an opportunity to the BJP to indulge in “horse trading” and form its government in the state.

However, Ram Madhav has denied any such intention.

Meanwhile, BJP’s national vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna called on Governor NN Vohra in Srinagar.

Governor and Khanna discussed the developmental scenario of the state and the steps required for promoting welfare of the people in all the three regions of the state.
