Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) national president Om Prakash Rajbhar, on Tuesday, hit back at Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav over his remarks made on Rajbhar’s birthday a day earlier.

Rajbhar criticised the SP leadership, accusing them of promoting divisive politics and prioritising money over integrity and public service.

Taking to his social media account X, Rajbhar stated that, “Those who divide society for political gains should keep their wishes and their Rs 100 to themselves. We may not have wealth, but we have honesty and a commitment to serve the people.”

The controversy began when a journalist at a press conference in the SP office asked Akhilesh about Rajbhar’s birthday. In response, Akhilesh reportedly said in a flat tone, “What should I do? It’s his birthday, so what should I do about it?” He added, “If 100 rupees are enough for him, we can send it. We only give them 100 rupees, whoever’s birthday it may be.” He concluded by asking reporters not to escalate the matter.

Rajbhar further alleged that the SP sees nothing but money. “During the SP’s rule, money was looted and misused, which is why even today, instead of extending birthday wishes, they speak in terms of money. It has been eight and a half years since they lost power; their means of earning are blocked, hence the obsession with Rs 100. If they were still in power, they wouldn’t even speak below crores or billions.”

Rajbhar added, “May those who have enjoyed luxury in palaces using public funds now give an account for every penny. I do not need birthday wishes from Akhilesh Yadav. My blessings come from leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who genuinely care for the people. The wishes of leaders working for public welfare are enough for me.”

However, Rajbhar also extended a helping hand, stating, “If ever Akhilesh Yadav faces difficult times, we will not hesitate to assist him with food and vegetables from our fields, as helping others is our culture, not showing off.”

Reacting to Akhilesh’s remarks, SBSP’s national general secretary Arvind Rajbhar took to X to condemn the statement ”as immature and indicative of frustration and helplessness”. “This is the same Akhilesh who suppressed the voice of the most backward communities during his rule,” he said.

Arvind Rajbhar further remarked, “Those who need to lean on others for their existence are now commenting on a mass leader like OP Rajbhar. The fact is that Akhilesh Yadav cannot digest the growing strength of the Rajbhar community and OP Rajbhar’s support base. The bitter truth is that respecting the most backward communities has never been part of Akhilesh’s culture.”
