The anti-corruption wing of Odisha police on Thursday arrested a retired Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) and a staff member of the animal husbandry department on charges of embezzling Rs 18 lakh in central adaptation grants for climate change.
“Trilochan Dhal, former CDVO of Nuapada district, and Ashok Kumar Dau, Statistical Enumerator posted at the office of CDVO, Nuapada, have been arrested for misappropriation of government money amounting to over Rs 18 lakh by transferring the funds to Dau’s personal account. The funds were allotted under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC),” the anti-corruption wing said in a statement.
Cases have been registered against the duo under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code. They will later be produced before the court, the statement added.
