A teacher at a government-run high school in Bhubaneswar has been placed under suspension for alleged negligence of his duties during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
Ms. Rashmi Sahu, an assistant teacher at the Government High School, Chandrasekharpur Phase-II, has been suspended from service, an order issued on
Thursday to this effect by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
Sahu had been appointed as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) for Booth No. 109 under Assembly Constituency No. 113. She was engaged in the SIR exercise, for ensuring foolproof electoral roll. However she skipped duty without assigning valid reason or prior permission. Her unauthorized absence has been treated as serious negligence and dereliction of duty.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chanchal Rana, issued the suspension order under Section 32(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
