The Lucknow Police have launched an innovative way to take action against the Romeos near the school and colleges in the state capital with the installation of complaint boxes at girls’ schools and women’s colleges. Students will now be able to file their complaints anonymously and wait for the police to take action against the culprits.
This initiative was taken by Lucknow Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and JCP (LO) Bablu Kumar, sources here said on Sunday.
Besides, anti-Romeo Squads from 54 police stations were briefed at Radio Headquarters on Sunday. Each squad includes armed uniformed police officers and male and female plainclothes police officers.The squad will be active from 8 am to 8 pm daily. “The team will patrol outside schools and colleges while in the evenings at malls, parks, and crowded areas.Vehicles will bear the Mission Shakti logo and the Anti-Romeo Squad’s identity,” the sources said.
The police here said for the first time, miscreants will be warned, and parents will be contacted. Besides, photos, names, addresses, and mobile numbers of apprehended individuals will be kept in record.
