Northeast election results: Numbers and names you should know

Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya went to polls last month. The counting of votes will begin shortly. All three states have a 60-member House each but polling took place in only 59 — after two candidates died in Meghalaya and Tripura and former chief minister Neiphiu Rio of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) elected unopposed in Nagaland. Here are some names and numbers that matter.

 

TRIPURA

Ruling Party: Communist Party of India (Marxist)

Current Chief  Minister: Manik Sarkar

Polling date: February 18, 2018

Turnout: 89.96%

Total Seats: 60

Seats Break-Up: 30 General, 30 Reserved (20 for SC candidates, 10 for ST candidates)

Voting Population: 25,69,216

Total polling stations: 3,214

NAGALAND

Voting Population: 11,89,264
