In an order on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh government said that officials on ‘field duty’ will not be granted leave till November 30. The state government attributed its decision to the festival season and security concerns ahead of the Supreme Court’s decision on Ayodhya dispute.

Civil and police officers posted at the district and lower levels are considered as the field officials.

The instructions by the state government came on the last day of the hearing of the dispute in the Supreme Court. The judgment in the matter of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute is to be pronounced by November 17.
