Rajasthan State Finance Commission Chairman Arun Chaturvedi has categorically rejected the “false impression” being created by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tika Ram Jully regarding the state’s financial status, asserting, “We are not facing any financial crisis.”

“There is no financial crisis of any sort in Rajasthan; it is a false impression being created by the opposition Congress, which practises misleading propaganda-based politics”, senior BJP leader and former minister Chaturvedi said.

“The ground reality is that we are quite comfortable on the financial front, with strong fiscal and financial fundamentals,” he said.

During the two-year tenure of the incumbent Bhajan Lal Sharma-led BJP government, the state’s per capita income rose from Rs 1.67 lakh in 2023–24 to Rs 2.02 lakh in 2025–26, while revenue from the state’s share in central taxes doubled to Rs 2.54 lakh crore.

The state has received Rs 19,600 crore from the Centre under the Special Assistance for State Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme in two years, significantly higher than the Rs 15,803 crore received during the previous Congress regime over five years.

The average gross state domestic product (GSDP) growth was 5.3 per cent under the previous regime (2018–23), which has risen to 8.7 per cent under the incumbent government.

Under the current dispensation, the debt burden and budget deficit have also been brought within permissible limits, he said, adding that LoP Jully is, however, using misleading data on key financial parameters to create a false impression regarding the state’s financial condition.
