The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has released its NIRF-2018 rankings, in which LPU Mittal School of Business (MSoB) finds place among the top 40 B-Schools in India in the management category.

LPU’s management department is ranked No. 1, ahead of Panjab University. In the ‘Outreach and Inclusivity’ category, LPU has been ranked No 1, beating all IIMs.

LPU’s pharmacy department ranks 26th among the 286 participating institutions in India.

Congratulating all top institutions, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said: “NIRF is the most authenticated and free of any bias ranking system available in India. Though it is the 3rd edition, not even a single accusation has been raised against the NIRF.”

The minister also held that a good ranking by NIRF was clear indication of the quality of the institution.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said, “Such prestigious rankings encourage us all at LPU to keep on working hard, unflinchingly. On seeing our two departments among the top in India, I feel extremely proud of both my students and staff members.”

A total of 2,809 institutions participated for various rankings under ‘NIRF-2018’. Out of a total of 487 institutions participating in the management category, the MHRD has announced a list of top 50 institutions in India. The criteria adopted for finalising the performance of various institutions is based on five parameters – teaching; learning and resources; research and professional practices; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity; and perception.

The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, once again bagged the top slot in overall ranking.

The NIRF-2018 rankings, released at a function held recently at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, have educational institutions classified under different categories.
