Newly-appointed BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin of Bihar has a strong connection with Madhya Pradesh, as he has been the state in-charge of the BJP’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), for three years from 2010 to 2013.

Nabin’s leadership and active campaigning during the 2013 Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh had also enabled the BJP to defeat the Congress party’s candidates on many seats.

Former BJP MLA Jitu Jirati was the state chief of the BJYM during Nabin’s tenure as the in-charge of Madhya Pradesh.

According to Jirati, Nabin had travelled extensively across Madhya Pradesh and formed a special connection in the tribal dominated areas of the state. Jirati noted that Nabin’s influence in the tribal belt of MP was one of the main reasons for the BJP’s win on several tribal belt seats.

Nabin had also come from Patna to Bhopal in December 2011 to attend the wedding of the then MP BJYM General Secretary and present state BJP Organizational Minister Rajneesh Agrawal.

The elevation of Nitin Nabin, who is presently the road construction minister in Bihar, to the BJP’s top national organizational post has brought cheer and excitement to many BJP leaders of Madhya Pradesh, especially the ones who were active as young BJP workers and leaders and worked alongside Nabin during his stint with the MP BJYM.

Union Agriculture Minister and former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also congratulated Nabin on his appointment.

However, the opposition Congress in MP took a jibe at Chouhan after Nabin’s appointment was announced on Sunday.

Former Congress Minister P C Sharma reacted on social media and quipped that Chouhan’s dream of becoming the MP CM for the fifth time was quashed in 2023, and now his chances of becoming the BJP national president have also been scuttled by the saffron party’s high command.

The BJP had scored an impressive win by a thumping majority in the 2023 MP Assembly elections under Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the Chief Minister in his fourth term. But the BJP did not continue Chouhan as the CM, and instead appointed Dr Mohan Yadav as the new MP CM, much to the surprise of everyone.

Now, Shivraj Singh Chouhan (66) was also being speculated to be strongly in the reckoning for the BJP National President’s post.

However, the BJP again sprung a surprise and appointed Nitin Nabin (45) as the BJP’s youngest national president.
