Prime Minister Narendra Modi met ASHA workers and students of a school in Narur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi on Monday. The PM reached Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on Monday afternoon.

After reaching the city, the PM was welcomed by a team of Anganwadi and ASHA workers who thanked him for the benefits the government announced for them.

“Always a delight to be in Kashi. I thank the team of Anganwadi and ASHA workers who welcomed me this evening. They were extremely happy about the recent decisions taken by the Central Government for their welfare,” the PM wrote on Twitter.

The PM then went to a primary school Narur village where he interacted with the students. He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“Interacting with the future of India…a lively discussion with young students on a wide range of subjects at Narur,” the PM wrote on Twitter.

In his interaction, PM Modi told the students to learn various skills and always ask questions.

“It is important to learn various skills. This will help you forever,” said the PM, adding, “As students, it is vital to ask questions. Never feel afraid to ask questions. It is a key aspect of learning.”

He said that students must give importance to sports.

“Go out and play, it is essential,” said the PM to the students of the school, which is aided by the non-profit organisation Room to Read.

He also wished the children on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, which was celebrated across the country today.

The PM’s visit also coincided with his 68th birthday. Supporters of the BJP celebrated the PM’s birthday at various places of the city.

Earlier today, President Ram Nath Kovind, former President Pranab Mukherjee, top Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, and BJP leaders wished the PM on his birthday.

On Tuesday, 18 September, he will launch various development projects worth more than Rs 500 crore in a ceremony at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Amphitheatre.

Among the projects to be inaugurated are Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for Puraani Kashi, and an Atal Incubation Centre at BHU. The PM will lay the foundation stone for a Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU.

He will also be addressing the gathering at the BHU.
