The Election Commission of India has appointed Neelam Meena as the new Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal.
The 1998-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre is replacing Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who was earlier appointed as the state’s new Chief Secretary.
Born on February 5, 1970, Meena holds a B.Sc. and an MA degree. She was earlier serving as the Principal Secretary in the Consumer Affairs Department since February 19, 2024, according to reports.
Prior to this, she has held multiple key positions including Principal Secretary, Director, Secretary, Deputy Chairman, Private Secretary, District Collector and Magistrate, Joint Secretary, Chief Executive Officer, Additional District Magistrate and Additional Director among others.
