Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday asserted that the NDA will return back to power in Bihar with a bigger mandate and that JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar will retain the chief minister’s post.
Prasad, who is also the co-in-charge of Bihar polls, criticized the opposition for their negative politics during the Bihar polls due to which he claimed people have rejected them as per the exit polls.
Asked whether Nitish Kumar would become the Chief Minister again after winning a majority in Bihar, or whether a new face would emerge, he told The Statesman, “In Bihar, the BJP contested the elections in alliance with its allies as part of the NDA alliance.
“The NDA will win an absolute majority in Bihar. As far as the Chief Minister is concerned, the NDA has contested the elections in alliance with Nitish Kumar. The people of Bihar have given the NDA their full support and Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister of the new government.”
The UP Deputy CM stated that the NDA has received overwhelming support from the people of Bihar and will achieve an even bigger victory in 2025 than in 2020. The people of Bihar have rejected those who have consistently misled the public and Tejashwi Yadav will not succeed in Bihar.
When the co-incharge of Bihar was asked about Tejashwi Yadav raising questions about the impartiality of the Election Commission and even saying, “The Election Commission is dead,, ” he said, “The Commission’s impartiality existed before and will remain so in the future. Such statements are being used to create an atmosphere against the Commission.”
Maurya, former state president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP and current Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was also critical about Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and head of the Samajwadi Party, for being vocal about the SIR issue after he stated that, if necessary, he will approach the Supreme Court.
Maurya responded with a witty remark, “After leading the Voter Rights March in Bihar, one of his colleagues jumped into a pond and fished during the Bihar elections. I fear that, following his example, he( Akhilesh) might too jump into a well while protesting against the SIR.”
Responding to a question about the impact of the SIR issue in the Bihar Assembly elections, Maurya said that the public had deflated the opposition’s SIR campaign. The people there understood their ill intentions, so the SIR did not become an issue there.
“You cannot mislead the public for long. The people of Bihar have showered the NDA with immense love and support in the elections. The policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar have been approved by the public. This pair will be both a hit and a fit in Bihar. The double-engine government will be formed again, and the process of writing a new saga of development will continue throughout Bihar,” he claimed.
In fact, Maurya is in Gujarat on Wednesday to attend an event for the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Regarding the program, he said that if Sardar Patel had not united the princely states of the country to form a united India, you would have seen 565 countries. It was only because of his foresight that the country remained united, otherwise Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had ruined everything with his policies.
