In a bid to ensure that children of troops posted in remote areas of the country have access to National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books, the council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Army Postal Service Corps under the Ministry of Defence.
In a statement issued here, it was said that the MoU will make NCERT textbooks available to the children of troops stationed in remote and far-flung parts of the country through the extensive network of Field Post Offices.
The MoU was signed by Aman Sharma, Secretary, NCERT, and Major General Shipra Sharma, Additional Director General, Army Postal Service, in the presence of Prof Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT, and Prof PC Agrawal, Joint Director, NCERT.
This partnership will significantly enhance the availability of genuine NCERT textbooks to the children of defence forces, stationed in remotest parts of the country, through the large network of Field Post Offices, which serve the Army, Air Force, as well as the Indian Navy, the release said.
This collaboration marks an important step towards creating a reliable and inclusive distribution system for NCERT textbooks, thereby advancing the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 and promoting equitable access to quality education for all, it added.
