Outgoing Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi calls on PM Modi ahead of leadership transition; briefs on maritime readiness

Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him on the Navy’s operational preparedness and overall regional security environment. The high-level meeting took place on Friday, just days before Admiral Tripathi retires from service on May 31, marking the end of a distinguished naval career spanning over four decades.

The interaction focused on the Indian Navy’s combat readiness, strategic posture in the Indian Ocean Region, and the impact of evolving geopolitical and technological developments on maritime operations.

Readiness review before leadership transition

The meeting assumes significance as the Indian Navy prepares for a leadership transition later this week. Following Admiral Tripathi’s retirement, Krishna Swaminathan will assume charge as the new Chief of the Naval Staff.

In a statement shared on X, the Indian Navy said Admiral Tripathi presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a detailed assessment of the force’s preparedness and the emerging maritime security scenario.

The force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting India’s maritime interests and maintaining a combat-ready and future-focused naval capability.
