There won’t be complaints of dirty toilets in AC coaches any more. The Northern Railway has prepared a proposal to upgrade the toilets built in 1,000 coaches and sent it to the Ministry of Railways. Officials claim that this proposal can be approved in the general budget to be presented on February 1.

Northern Railway officials are now seen in action mode for the cleanliness in trains. Last month, in the Shatabdi train, after finding dirt in the AC coach to the sleeper coach and its toilet, the authorities canceled the tender along with imposing a financial penalty on the contractor.

The officials prepared a proposal to upgrade the restrooms. According to officials, modern toilets will be installed by upgrading the bio-toilets, which will help people get rid of dirt and reduce water consumption.

A railway official said a proposal has been prepared to upgrade the toilets of 1000 coaches of Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. There are four toilets in a coach, and the cost of upgrading one toilet is estimated at Rs 2.5 lakh.

According to sources, this proposal may be approved next month. It is being told that due to the non-upgradation of toilets for a long time, the complaints of filth were continuously increasing, in view of which this step has been taken.
