Senior Congress leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat has said he would fight to finish against the allegation of being a Pakistani spy in an AI-generated video purported to have been circulated by the BJP.

What’s more, Rawat accused the BJP of trying to incite violence against him and dared the ruling party to produce evidence of his being a Pakistani spy. “I have been portrayed by the BJP as a traitor spying for Pakistan on social media platforms. The BJP tried to incite hatred and violence against me, depicting my image as a Pakistan spy and being shot dead in the fake video. I challenge them to provide evidence of my being a Pakistan spy,” he said.

The former Uttarakhand chief minister held a protest march towards the BJP state office in Dehradun on Thursday. He started with his solo march toward the BJP headquarter in protest against an AI-generated video of him that has gone viral after it was uploaded on social media pages of the ruling party.

After starting the march alone, Rawat was joined by scores of his Congress party supporters, who raised slogans against the BJP. Police tried to stop his march putting up barricades on the way resulting in a heated exchange between the Congress workers and the police personnel. Following the confrontation, Rawat staged a sit-in protest on the road in front of the BJP state headquarters.

He said, “My friends in the BJP are spreading lies to tarnish my public image. They all are doing it from bottom to top. When challenged, BJP leaders fail to provide evidence. Therefore, I have come to demand proof from them.”

Harish Rawat announced to continue repeating protest marches towards the BJP’s state headquarter till his name is cleared from the false allegations.
