Mukhtar Ansari sentenced to 10 yrs RI with Rs 5 lakh fine in criminal case

Mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, who is presently in Enforcement Directorate’s custody for interrogation, has been convicted in a 26-year-old criminal case and  awarded 10-year imprisonment along with Rs 5 lakh fine.

The case was related to the killing of two persons in a gang rivalry in Ghazipur in 1996 and attack on a police officer.

A special court in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday morning, convicted Mukhtar and his accomplice Bhim Singh and later handed both of them 10 years imprisonment. However Mukhtar was also slapped with Rs 5 lakh fine.

Additional District Judge  Durgesh Pandey of Ghazipur had reserved the judgement on December 12 last after completing the trial underway since 1996 when the case was registered under  Gangster Act.

Bhim Singh, who is on bail, was immediately arrested after his conviction.

The case was related to the killing of two persons in a gang rivalry in Ghazipur in 1996.

Meanwhile , the ED has started  interrogation  of Mukhtar in a money laundering case from Thursday. Yesterday a Prayagraj court had sent Mukhtar , presently lodged in the Banda jail,  in ED custody for 10 days.
