Newly elected Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress president Yash Ghanghoria organised the youth wing’s first major protest under his leadership immediately after taking charge at the State Congress headquarters in Bhopal on Thursday.
The Youth Congress organized the protest against ‘vote theft’ and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib, MP Congress President Jitu Patwari, Assembly Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, other leaders, and thousands of enthusiastic Youth Congress activists and party workers took part in the rally.
The rally began from the Congress office and headed towards the Election Commission’s Bhopal Office.
However, the police erected barricades to stop the protesters. The energetic activists, nonetheless, tried to climb over the barricades, waving flags and raising slogans.
The police resorted to the use of water cannons to stop the protesters and disperse the crowd.
Ghanghoria alleged that the names of many genuine voters are being deleted through the SIR process.
