The Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh government on Monday moved Supreme Court seeking modification in its top court’s earlier order of lifting ban on the film in four states.

According to the reports, Supreme Court will hear the matter tomorrow.

The movie, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, is scheduled to release on 25 January.

Even after the apex court on January 18 had paved the way for the film’s nationwide release by lifting the ban on its screening in BJP-ruled states Gujarat and Rajasthan, the protests have refused to die down.

Violent protests by members of the Rajput community against the release of Sanjay Leela Bansali’s controversial period drama were witnessed across Gujarat on Sunday, with agitators damaging buses and blocking roads.

Apart from Gujarat, cases of violence were also reported from other parts of the country, according to media reports.

In northern parts of Gujarat, violent mobs set ablaze or damaged as many as eight buses in the past two days.
