A Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Madhya Pradesh Police has been removed from field duty and line-attached after he allegedly drove a man on the bonnet of a Mercedes-Benz car for nearly 200 metres, following an altercation in Gwalior city.

A video of the incident went viral, prompting senior police officials to take cognizance of the matter.

In the video, SI Prashant Sharma is seen driving the luxury car with a man, identified as Shubham Bhadoriya, clinging to its bonnet. The man eventually fell onto the road after being driven for about 200 metres.

According to Gwalior Zone Inspector General (IG) Arvind Saxena, the SI has been line-attached and removed from active duty. He added that an inquiry, headed by an officer of Additional SP rank, has been ordered.

The incident reportedly took place a day ago, when SI Sharma was removing vehicles parked in the City Centre area. It is alleged that he struck the windowpane of a car, causing the glass to break.

This led to an argument with Shubham Bhadoriya, a hotel owner in the area. Subsequent CCTV footage shows SI Sharma driving the Mercedes-Benz with Bhadoriya on its bonnet.

It is still unclear whether the car belonged to the SI or someone else. Further investigation is underway.
