MP Police seize drugs worth Rs 5 crore

The Madhya Pradesh Police on Saturday claimed to have seized a huge quantity of contraband worth Rs 5 crore from the possession of three persons in the Agar Malwa district.

According to Agar Malwa SP Vinod Kumar Singh, the confiscated items included 9.25 kg of ketamine valued at about Rs 4.62 crore, 12.10 kg ammonium chloride, 35 litres of isopropyl alcohol worth Rs 25 lakh, and 6 gm of MD drug priced at Rs 7,800.

The SP said that the police got a tip-off about the drugs, and based on this, a team searched two cars near the Ganesh Gaushala on the Agar-Barod road.

The police found the drugs along with laboratory equipment, including a vacuum oven, magnetic stirrer, glassware, a gram panchayat seal, and four mobile phones.

The SP said that two persons identified as Ishwar Malviya (33) and Daulat Singh Anjana (35) were apprehended from the spot. A third person, Rahul Anjana (30), managed to flee. Both cars were also impounded.

The SP stated that this was the biggest seizure of narcotics in the district to date.

Singh said that the police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) against the accused. Efforts are on to arrest Rahul Anjana.

Investigations are underway into the procurement, sale, and transportation of the narcotics.
