MP firecracker factory blast: 2 killed, 15 injured; CM Mohan Yadav announces ex-gratia

At least two people were killed and 15 others got injured in a massive explosion at a firecracker factory in Tonkkala in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district.

According to police, some of the survivors were critically injured and have been admitted to hospitals.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and wrote on X, “The news of several people being killed or injured in the explosion at a firecracker factory in Tonk Kala, Dewas district, is heart-wrenching. I have directed the district in-charge and Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda ji, the Home Secretary, and senior officials to reach the incident site.”

He also wrote that orders for an investigation into the incident have been issued.

Further, instructions were given to provide financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each from the state government to the families of the deceased and to ensure free treatment for the injured.

As per reports, the blast was so powerful that it shook the entire locality, with nearby houses trembling under the impact. Police is said to have found shreds of flesh and severed body parts scattered across the road, plunging the area into chaos and panic.

The explosion has reduced a major portion of the factory to rubble, leaving behind mangled remains of the structure and triggering widespread fear among residents.
