Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari said that a delegation of Congress MLAs and leaders from Madhya Pradesh would go to New Delhi to meet President Droupadi Murmu and seek justice for the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate, Meenakshi Natarajan, whose nomination was rejected on Tuesday evening.
Patwari said here on Wednesday that the leader of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) requested an appointment with the President in New Delhi. The Congress leaders have decided to go to Delhi on Friday.
“We have requested time from the President either on Friday or Saturday,” Patwari informed.
If the President does not agree to meet them, he said, the Congress party would hold a protest March in front of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
The Rajya Sabha poll Returning Officer for Madhya Pradesh rejected Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination on Tuesday evening after upholding the BJP’s objection on the grounds that Natarajan did not provide information in her affidavit about a court case against her at Hyderabad in Telangana state.
