Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday inaugurated a new food and drug testing laboratory built at a cost of Rs 8.12 crore in Indore and gave a strict warning against adulteration, saying the state government would not spare anyone trying to play with the lives of people through spurious food and drugs.
“I want to warn all those involved in adulteration that the government will not spare them. They will land in jail,” he asserted.
“If you indulge in wrongdoing, you will not get away with it”, Dr Yadav told the adultrators.
He noted that for the first time since the state came into existence in 1956, a food and drug testing laboratory has been set up at the divisional level at Indore, after Bhopal, and similar facilities will be established in Jabalpur, Gwalior and other divisions. “Indore is famous for its food, and with this laboratory, adulteration in food items will be curtailed, and pure and healthy food will be ensured for food lovers” Dr Yadav said.
The CM pointed out that till now, the Bhopal laboratory could test only about 6,000 food and drug samples annually, but with the start of the Indore facility, the state will now be able to test around 20,000 samples every year.
