Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday transferred ₹1,836 crore to the bank accounts of 1.25 crore women beneficiaries under the ‘Laadli Behna Yojana’ at a programme held in Makhan Nagar (Babai) in Narmadapuram district.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to accelerate the state’s development.

He noted that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to work in mission mode on the four pillars of development—the poor, youth, food providers (farmers) and women (GYAN)—with a strong focus on empowerment.

“The state government is consistently working towards women’s empowerment,” Dr Yadav asserted.

During the event, the Chief Minister also transferred more than ₹90 crore as a gas cylinder refilling subsidy to 29 lakh eligible beneficiaries under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’.

He further performed the bhoomi pujan and inaugurated development works worth ₹206 crore in the Sohagpur Assembly constituency, including the newly constructed Circuit House at Makhan Nagar.

Dr Yadav said that the 32nd instalment of the ‘Laadli Behna Yojana’ has been credited to the accounts of over 1.25 crore women.

He remarked that when financial assistance reaches women, they prioritise the welfare of the entire family, often placing their own needs last. He added that the state government is gradually increasing the assistance amount under the scheme.

The Chief Minister said the government will also provide ₹5,000 assistance to women for employment-linked industrial work. In addition, women are being given an extra two per cent concession on property registration.

Highlighting local initiatives, Dr Yadav said that mulberry silk from Narmadapuram is well known and that the establishment of thread-manufacturing units has enabled 50 women to become ‘Lakhpatis’.

He announced that 2026 has been declared ‘Farmer Welfare Year’, during which agriculture will be linked with employment and industry. Women will be trained and connected with self-help groups, while farmers will be ensured fair prices for wheat, paddy and pulses.

The Chief Minister informed that 1,000 acres of land in the Babai–Mohasa industrial area have already been allotted, and work is underway to allocate an additional 400 acres for industrial purposes.

He emphasised that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, development works across all sectors are being expedited. He said that by 2047, all efforts will be focused on making India a developed nation and a global leader.

Referring to a recent incident involving contaminated water in Indore, the Chief Minister said the government acted with sensitivity and took strict action against the officials responsible.
