MP CM congratulates Indian women’s football team

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has congratulated the Indian Women’s Football Team on winning the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship 2026.

He said that this remarkable victory is a symbol of the courage, talent and team spirit of India’s daughters. The Chief Minister added that the team’s success will inspire a new chapter in the national sports landscape.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav stated that the Indian women footballers have made the entire nation proud. He noted that every member of the team deserves heartfelt congratulations for this outstanding achievement. The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to the players for a bright and successful future.

The SAFF championship was held in Madgaon, Goa, from May 25 to June 6.

In the final, Indian women beat Bangladesh women 3-1, to win their sixth overall SAFF title, and the first after a gap of seven years.

The Indian team also recorded an impressive tally of 18 goals during the tournament.

The outstanding performance of the Indian women’s football team in the international competition has earned widespread appreciation from across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his happiness over India’s triumph and congratulated the team on their achievement.
