MP: Cabinet clears 354 new posts in medical colleges, approves helicopter services

With the aim of ensuring continuous recognition of government autonomous medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh with the National Medical Commission (NMC), the BJP state government has approved the creation of 354 new posts of Senior Residents in the non-clinical and para-clinical faculties of these colleges.

The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

As per the decision, the new posts have been approved in 13 autonomous medical colleges at Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna, Vidisha, Ratlam, Khandwa, Shahdol, Shivpuri, Datia, and Chhindwara. This will ensure the smooth functioning of the medical colleges as per the standards of the National Medical Commission.

The cabinet decision would enable postgraduate students passing out from the medical colleges to do their senior residency in the medical college itself, and the state will also be able to get medical teachers in the non-clinical and para-clinical faculties.

The cabinet also approved the operation of helicopter services within the state through public-private partnership (PPP) with the cooperation of private operators. Helicopter services will be provided at selected locations between airports, helipads, and airstrips throughout the state.

Helicopter services will be operated in three sectors. Sector 1 will include Indore, Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Mandu, Maheshwar, Gandhi Sagar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Hanuwantiya, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Barwani, Alirajpur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Nalkheda, Bhopal, and Jabalpur.

Sector 2 will include Bhopal, Madhai, Pachmarhi, Tamia, Chhindwara, Sanchi, Indore, Datia, Damoh, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Kuno (Sheopur), Orchha, Guna, Rajgarh, Sagar, Hoshangabad, Betul, Tikamgarh, and Jabalpur.

Sector 3 will include Jabalpur, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Chitrakoot, Sarsi, Parsili, Maihar, Satna, Panna, Khajuraho, Katni, Rewa, Singrauli, Amarkantak, Seoni, Sidhi, Mandla, Pench, Dindori, Bhopal, and Indore.

The objective of this service is to provide affordable and sustainable helicopter service between major cities, religious sites, national parks, and tourist destinations in collaboration with private operators. This service will facilitate the travel of passengers, tourists, businessmen, investors, and residents within the state. This will enhance business and tourism activities between the state’s major commercial cities and tourist destinations and create new employment opportunities.

The Cabinet has approved the revised cost of ₹11,678 crore (including non-EPC) for the 660 MW Satpura Thermal Power Station, Sarni, of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited. The project will be financed in a 20:80 equity-debt ratio. The state government will provide ₹684.53 crore of the 20 percent equity, and the remaining amount will be arranged by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited from its own resources. In addition to the ₹431.45 crore allocated by the State Government until the financial year 2025-26, the remaining state share of ₹50.62 crore will be made available to Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited each year from the financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31 through the departmental budget.

The Cabinet also approved the revised cost of ₹11,476 crore 31 lakh for the 660 MW Amarkantak Thermal Power Station, Chachai, of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited. The project will be financed in a 20:80 equity-debt ratio. The state government will provide ₹699.90 crore of the 20 percent equity, and the remaining amount will be arranged by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited from its own resources. In addition to the ₹365 crore provided/allocated by the state government until the financial year 2025-26, the remaining state share of ₹66.98 crore will be made available to Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited each year from the financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31 through the departmental budget.
