In a solemn and deeply moving ceremony in the border town of Rajouri in the Jammu region on Monday, the Nirmala Gajanan Foundation (NGF), in collaboration with the White Knight Corps, felicitated victims of enemy action during Operation Sindoor. A total of 117 beneficiaries from Rajouri and Poonch districts—many of whom lost loved ones, homes, or suffered grievous injuries—were honoured with dignity, compassion, and heartfelt recognition.
The atmosphere inside the auditorium was charged with emotion as the acclaimed movie actor Nana Patekar graced the occasion. He personally met each victim, offering words of comfort and reassurance to families that had displayed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy. Many among them, moved by the gesture, expressed their gratitude through tears, underlining the profound impact of the outreach.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries from the Indian Army and civil administration, including officers of NGF, DIG J&K Police, DIG BSF, DC Rajouri, SSP Rajouri, and the Principal, GMC Rajouri. Their presence reflected the collective resolve of the government, Armed Forces, and non-profit organisations to stand by families affected by conflict.
After the felicitation, attendees engaged in informal interactions with civil and military officers, exchanging words of encouragement, hope, and solidarity. Nana Patekar also met gallantry awardees of Operation Sindoor, personally acknowledging their remarkable valour and sacrifice.
A joint media briefing by Maj General Kaushik Mukherjee, GOC Ace of Spades Division, Nana Patekar, and DC Rajouri further highlighted the noble initiative, reinforcing the message of national unity, compassion, and unwavering support for those impacted by strife.
The ceremony stood as a testament to the unifying spirit of the nation, showcasing how the Army, civil administration, and NGF can come together to provide solace, dignity, and hope in times of distress. Special appreciation was extended to the Nirmala Gajanan Foundation for its steadfast commitment to the people of Rajouri and Poonch, ensuring that victims of conflict are honoured with respect and empathy.
At least 15 civilians were killed and about 59 were injured as the Pakistan Army targeted the Rajouri, Poonch, and other border districts during Operation Sindoor.
