Union Minister Harsh Malhotra and seven Delhi BJP MPs met Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Thursday and inquired of her well-being, a day after she was assaulted at her residence during a public program.
The CM was attacked by one Rajesh Sakriya during ‘Jan Sunvai’ yesterday. He has been sent to a five-day police remand.
Day after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked at public program at her residence, her security had been beefed up with Centre according Z category CRPF security to her. news agency ANI reported.
The incident occurred during the weekly Jan Sunvai programme when Rajesh approached her, handed over a paper, suddenly shouted, slapped her, pulled her hair, and hurled abuses, as per the police.
As per Delhi Police sources, a heavy object was hurled at her, causing her to fall to the ground. The Chief Minister is currently under medical observation while senior Delhi Police officials are on the spot.
A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public grievance session at her Civil Lines residence in the national capital, said the Delhi Police.
According to Delhi Police, the accused identified himself as Rajesh Sakriya (41) and said that he belonged to Rajkot, Gujarat.
A case has been registered under Section 109(1) BNS for attempt to murder following the attack on Delhi CM on Wednesday, as per ANI. The accused had been sent to five day police custody.
After the incident, the accused was taken into police custody at the Civil Lines station, and authorities carried out further investigation.
Political leaders from Congress, AAP and BJP condemned the incident terming it as “unfortunate” and urged for an investigation into the matter. Several political leaders like Congress MPs Venugopal and Manickam Tagore called it a failure of Hime Minister and Delhi and Police.
