The brief monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature starting tomorrow is expected to be stormy, with issues including Special Intensive Revision (SIR), PDA Pathshala, along with power crisis, floods, and law & Order likely to be raised by the opposition.

The PDA Pathshala is a campaign launched by SP workers in protest against the Uttar Pradesh government’s school pairing policy. PDA stands for Pichda or Backward, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak or minorities.

Both houses of the state Legislature will have just four sittings till August 14, in which several Ordinances will be tabled.

State assembly speaker Satish Mahana chaired an all-party meeting and a business advisory committee meeting of the House on Sunday to seek the cooperation of leaders of all the political parties.

The Speaker said “We have sought the cooperation of leaders of all the parties during this session”.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present during the all-party meeting. Both the ruling party and the opposition are working out their strategy ahead of the Monsoon session.

The principal opposition SP will hold its legislature party meeting on Sunday evening, and the ruling NDA will do the same tonight.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the government is ready to discuss all issues raised by the members. But it should be as per the rule and permission from the chair, he pointed out.

Leader of the Opposition( LoP) Mata Prasad Pandey, objecting to a just 4-day session, alleged that the government was running away from facing the opposition. He said that all the burning issues like unemployment, caste census, Agniveers, law and order, and others would be raised prominently during the session.

He said the opposition members would be protesting against the alleged police harassment of the opposition workers and the closure of primary schools by the government.

“We will also raise the issue of illegal deletion of voters from the electoral rolls and other burning issues like floods and power crisis,” the LoP said.
Ahead of the all-party meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the renovated dome of the entrance of the Vidhan Bhawan.

Apart from this, CM Yogi also inaugurated the renovated Sabha Mandap of the Vidhan Bhawan and the renovated Assembly Room No. 15.
