A low-intensity explosion occurred at the Sadar Police Station in Punjab’s Moga district in the early hours of Wednesday, damaging vehicles parked inside the premises but causing no casualties, police said.
According to preliminary information, the blast took place at around 3 a.m. The impact shattered the window panes of several vehicles that had been seized in different criminal cases and were parked within the police station compound.
Initial reports from some sources had claimed that the incident was a grenade attack. However, police have not officially confirmed the nature of the explosion and have described it only as a low-intensity blast.
Senior police officers said the incident is under investigation and that the exact cause of the explosion will be established after the completion of forensic examination.
Forensic teams reached the spot early in the morning and continued collecting evidence throughout the day. Police officials are examining all aspects of the case to ascertain the cause of the blast and identify those responsible.
“There is no report of any loss of life or injuries in the incident. The investigation is underway, and all angles are being examined,” police officials said.
Police also appealed to the public not to believe or circulate unverified information and advised people to rely only on official updates regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders targeted the Punjab government over the incident.
Leader of Opposition Amarinder Singh Raja Warring posted on X, “The explosion outside the Sadar Police Station in Moga is a shocking reminder of the complete collapse of law and order under the Bhagwant Mann government. When even police stations are not safe, how can ordinary Punjabis feel secure? Instead of publicity and tall claims, the Chief Minister must answer why crime is becoming so brazen across Punjab. The people of Punjab deserve accountability, not excuses.”

Former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also criticised the government, saying on X, “The recent blast at Moga Sadar Police Station has once again exposed the complete collapse of law and order under the Aam Aadmi Party government. When even police stations aren’t safe, how can common Punjabis feel secure? Attacks on police and the public continue unabated, while past incidents remain unresolved. Punjab deserves a safe and prosperous future, not excuses and terror.”
