Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday asserted that while the Congress ruled the country for 55 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed India’s global standing in just 11 years. Addressing the media at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, he said the Congress has failed to perform the role of a responsible opposition and should draw inspiration from the life and conduct of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to understand the true responsibilities of the opposition.
The Chief Minister stated that during the Congress regime, the country remained entangled in corruption, and development did not progress at the required pace. In contrast, he said, the Modi-led government has strengthened India’s position on the global stage and accelerated development across sectors. He alleged that corruption was the defining feature of Congress governance, whereas the present government is focused on transparency and service.
Refuting recent allegations made by an Aam Aadmi Party MLA, the Chief Minister described them as “baseless and fabricated.” He said such statements are being made to divert attention from the party’s own shortcomings.
Saini alleged that AAP had shown “false dreams” to the people of Delhi and later failed to deliver on promises made in Punjab. He claimed that the people of Punjab initially placed their trust in Congress but felt betrayed and later voted for AAP, which, according to him, turned out to be a “mega-deception.”
The Chief Minister further alleged that the law and order situation in Punjab is deteriorating and that farmers are facing serious challenges. Referring to flood compensation, he said that in Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal had announced ₹20,000 compensation for farmers, while in Gujarat, he claimed that ₹50,000 had been provided to Punjab farmers.
Saini termed this as misleading and accused AAP of engaging in pressure politics rather than governance. He reiterated that the allegations levelled by the MLA are factually incorrect and intended to mask administrative failures.
Responding to a question regarding Punjab, the Chief Minister said the state is like home to him. He added that whenever invited, he visits Punjab with warmth and respect. Describing Punjab as the sacred land of the Gurus, he said it is a matter of pride that the Gurus also blessed the land of Haryana with their presence.
On being asked about the inauguration of the new Prime Minister’s Office complex, referred to as “Seva Teerth,” Saini described it as a commendable initiative. He said that while previous regimes focused on ruling, the present government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is guided by the spirit of service to the people.
Regarding the upcoming municipal corporation elections in Haryana, the Chief Minister said that all preparations have been completed and expressed confidence that the people of the state will continue to extend their support and blessings.
