A moment of negligence cost a BSF jawan’s only son his life in a heartbreaking incident reported in the Kanker Kheda area. The 13-year-old boy died after an accidental strangulation caused by the ribbon of his school ID card, police said on Tuesday.
According to the family, Lakshya returned from school as usual and later went to his tuition class on Monday. After coming back home, he went to the bathroom to change his clothes. It is believed that he slipped, causing the ID card ribbon around his neck to tighten and strangle him.
Family members rushed the unconscious boy to Lakshya Health Care Centre on Sardhana Road, but doctors pronounced him dead after examination. Lakshya, a Class 8 student at Army Public School, was the only brother to his two sisters.
His father, Deepak Balyan, is currently posted with the BSF in Tripura.
Police from the Kanker Kheda station arrived at the hospital after receiving information from the medical staff. Inspector Vinay Kumar stated that the police conducted the necessary formalities, including preparing the panchnama of the body. Further details will be clarified after the post-mortem report.
Lakshya’s mother, Gudiya, told the police that her son slipped in the bathroom and accidentally got strangled by the ID card ribbon. The family is in deep shock over the sudden and tragic loss.
Speaking on the incident, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh said that the child’s death appears to be the result of a minor but tragic lapse, and the exact cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem.
