Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs joins nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) on Wednesday joined the nationwide roll-out of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025, a 15-day initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation across India, a release from the ministry said. The campaign, which began on September 17, will culminate on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

During the campaign, MoPA will conduct special cleanliness drives and Shramdaan in the Ministry premises to promote a clean and hygienic environment.

Senior officers will conduct cleanliness inspections to ensure the Ministry’s premises meet high standards of cleanliness.

CPWD (Horticulture) will provide indoor plants for sections and officers’ cabins as part of the green initiative for Swachh Air, as also employee engagement activities, such as a Rangoli-making competition, will be organised to promote teamwork and creativity.

MoPA will also participate in the “Ek Ghanta – Ek Din – Ek Saath Shramdaan” initiative at a local school to promote community involvement in cleanliness drives.

Health check-ups will be conducted for Safai Mitras at Parliament House Medical Centre, highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to their well-being, while Safai Mitras will be felicitated in a closing ceremony to honour their contribution to maintaining cleanliness.

Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Secretary, MoPA, emphasised that Swachhata should not be confined to a fortnight alone but must be practised as a continuous commitment throughout the year. “Swachhata is not just a campaign, but a way of life,” he stressed, highlighting the importance of sustained efforts towards cleanliness and sanitation.

The Ministry’s participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025 reflects its commitment to the vision of Swachh Bharat and nurturing a culture of cleanliness, hygiene, and dignity of labour, in line with the Government of India’s nationwide campaign.
