The Bahujan Samaj Party on Saturday lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah, a day after he equated the Opposition parties to cats, dogs, snakes and mongoose.

The BSP supremo Mayawati claimed that the remarks made by Shah proved downfall in the standard of the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

Once again using the examples of victory in Gorakhpur and Phulpur by-polls, Mayawati said that the Uttar Pradesh people had taught a lesson to the BJP for using such an “insulting and Sanghi” language, according to news agency ANI.

Referring to the no-confidence motion by BJP’s old ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) over the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh, Mayawati also asserted that the BJP is isolated by its allies because of its overconfidence and ego.

On Friday, BJP  national president Amit Shah had launched a scathing attack on Opposition parties by making stinging comments as he equated them to ‘snakes’, ‘mongoose’, ‘dogs’ and ‘cats’.

Amit Shah’s comment, at a rally in Mumbai on BJP’s Foundation Day, was a dig at the parties that are making efforts to form a coalition to take on the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

“The countdown for 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun. All the opposition parties are continuously calling for unity to defeat the BJP. I had heard a tale that when a devastating flood comes, all the trees, plants, leaves, etc flow away and then all animals including snake, mongoose, dog, cat, Cheetah, Lion jumps on a single banyan tree because they all are scared of the water below the tree. Similarly, our PM has created fear within the opposition, which is now teaming up to fight the BJP in the election,” Shah had said.
