Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has responded to the controversy surrounding Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, conveying a message of restraint and respect.

The Deputy CM clarified on the question of the alleged insult to the Shankaracharya that disrespect to any revered saint, acharya, or Shankaracharya is unacceptable. He said that if any instance of disrespect or insult comes to light, an inquiry will be conducted, and action will be taken against those found guilty.

Maurya said that the priority at present is to end the controversy.

He said, “I pray at the feet of Lord Shankaracharya that he ends whatever protest is ongoing and concludes his protest after taking a dip in the Sangam.”

The Deputy CM’s statement is being seen as a message of peace and harmony amidst the controversy.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that for a Yogi, saint, and sanyasi, nothing is more important than religion and the nation.

He said that a sanyasi has no personal property; his religion is his wealth, and the nation is his pride.

Chief Minister Yogi said, “Those elements who conspire to weaken Sanatan Dharma under its guise are a threat to society. It is necessary to be vigilant against such people.”
