Following an altercation, a 40-year-old man was stabbed to death by his live-in partner at their residence in Gurgaon, police said.
The deceased, identified as Harish Sharma, a native of Baliyawas village, was murdered by a woman, Yashmeet Kaur, 27, on Saturday, the police said.
The incident took place after an altercation between the couple over the deceased’s visit to his family.
Harish, who was married and had two daughters from his wife, had reportedly been staying with Kaur in a rented accommodation for the past one and a half years due to his spouse’s illness.
A police officer from the DLF Phase-3 police station said, “We were informed about the incident after the local hospital reported about a grievously injured person who was declared dead upon arrival.”
This crime team, along with forensic experts, went to the spot, Sector 72, where they recovered a knife and a blood-stained T-shirt from the scene.
Harish’s nephew, who also worked with him, then filed a complaint, where he told the police that on Friday, a man named Vijay came to meet Harish at their residence and requested for Rs 7 lakh, which the family provided.
In his statement, he mentioned that “On Saturday night, Harish was having a conversation with his wife when Kaur walked in, which led to an argument between the two.”
“Post the argument, in a fit of rage, Kaur took a knife and stabbed Sharma in his chest. Although he was taken to the hospital, he succumbed to the injuries,” the nephew alleged.
“Vijay, who was also reportedly present in another room, is also under investigation. Meanwhile, the victim’s nephew has alleged that both Kaur and Vijay had planned the murder,” a senior officer mentioned.
The officer added further in his statement, “Kaur, who resides in Delhi’s Ashok Nagar, has been taken into custody, where she has confessed to the crime, adding that the murder weapon, stained with blood, was retrieved from the flat.”
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS, and an investigation into this case is ongoing.
