In a shocking case of police apathy, a 22-year-old person bled to death right outisde the pink police booth in Ghaziabad as women cops allegedly remained locked inside.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Raj Kumar, a native of Bihar’s Siwan, had arrived at the Ghaziabad pink police booth on Sunday following a dispute over a meagre Rs 20 with an autorickshaw driver.
Kumar reportedly urged the women personnel to open the gate. The women staff allegedly told him to go to a nearby police station.
However, Kumar kept banging the gate of the pink police booth and shattered a glass that inflicted a deep cut on his hand.
As blood began to flow profusely, Kumar urged the women personnel to help but the “scared” cops allegedly locked themselves inside the booth ans didn’t come out to help him, reported NDTV.
A local shopkeeper informed the police and two men personnel arrived at the spot on motorcycle.
The ambulance arrived late and by the time the victim had lost a lot of blood. He was taken to the hospital but died during the treatment.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Upasana Pandey, however narrated a different version and claimed that the victim was immediately taken to the hospital.
“A dispute broke out between them over the payment of fare, following which both reached the Pink Booth. While drunk, the passenger (Kumar) banged the gate of the pink booth, causing the glass to shatter and severely injuring his hand,” she said, adding the victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment.
According to the FIR, Kumar was shifted to the hospital after nearly one hour delay.
