West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday extended her heartfelt wishes and congratulations to all Bengalis on the occasion of Sri Sri Jagaddhatri Puja. In a post on her WhatsApp channel, she said, “May the worship of Goddess Jagaddhatri, the symbol of strength, stability, and unity, be celebrated with devotion and reverence.”

During the occasion, Banerjee highlighted a significant initiative undertaken by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). A project has been completed in Chandan Nagar, where over 450 kilometers of overhead wires have been removed and 500 electric poles have been taken down, and the entire electric supply system has been placed underground. This project, which cost Rs 120 crore, will ensure that the local residents do not face any power supply issues during the idol immersion ceremony.

Mamata Banerjee announced that the state government plans to implement a similar underground power system in Kolkata in the future. “In the future, we plan to implement this system in Kolkata as well,” she said.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and respecting the cultural heritage of diverse Bengal. “Our sacred land is filled with the spirit of festivals, which reminds us of the importance of peaceful coexistence. Let us celebrate our festivals together and respect and protect the cultural heritage of our diverse Bengal,” she said.

“May the light of festivals dispel the darkness of our minds and fill our hearts with purity and compassion. ‘Joy Bangla’,” Mamata Banerjee said.

The Jagaddhatri Puja celebrations are a significant event in West Bengal, and the state’s initiatives to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the people are commendable.
