The mass resignation came less than a year after the women-led committee took charge, pushing the organization back into a deep administrative crisis. Serious questions were raised in the general body meeting regarding the annual financial report. Members pointed out deep irregularities, a distinct lack of transparency, and unresolved discrepancies in the association’s accounts.

AMMA president Shwetha Menon confirmed that the entire executive committee stepped down after a no-confidence motion was moved during the general body meeting. Swetha Menon said she is completely severing her primary membership with AMMA, stating that a hidden agenda was at play to unseat her and that she refused to remain a puppet in an organization “falling back into the hands of the accused.”

Intense internal rifts and dissatisfaction triggered the mass resignation following a no-confidence motion moved by members against the leadership at the general body meeting. Heated debates erupted over the annual report and financial records, with members pointing to alleged irregularities, lack of transparency, missing accounts, and inappropriate expenditure

President Swetha Menon admitted that the association’s treasurer had gone missing for a period. While records from September 1 onwards were clean, all preceding financial documentation could not be produced to the general body.
Members aggressively questioned why the leadership authorized serving liquor at events during the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
The resignations coincided with an ongoing controversy inside AMMA driven by allegations from former joint secretary Ansiba Hassan, who previously exited due to harassment and internal targeting.

Ansiba Hassan cited targeted harassment as the reason for stepping down. According to her, she was subjected to communal remarks within the committee. Tension escalated over disputes regarding the acceptance of sponsorships from religious entities, notably during a February fundraising event tied to a temple organization.
The incumbent committee, elected in 2025, made history by electing Shwetha Menon as its first female president and Cuckoo Parameswaran as general secretary. However, internal divisions and mounting controversies quickly plagued the leadership, resulting in the entire committee’s collective resignation on Sunday.
