A major fire broke out on Thursday evening in a shopping complex near the Taliparamba bus stand in Kerala’s Kannur district, where around 100 shops are functioning.
The fire, which broke out at around 5:30 pm, was brought under control by 8 pm. Fire force teams from Taliparamba and Payyannur are continuing their efforts to douse the fire. More than 30 shops have been completely gutted. 12 units of Fire Force teams from Kannur, Mattanur and Peringom also reached the spot to douse the fire.
Kannur District Fire Force Officer Arun Bhaskar and Kannur Rural SP Anuj Paliwal are supervising the fire dousing operations. No casualties have been reported in the fire so far. Some locals have expressed doubts about whether anyone is inside the building.
