Majithia, Gadkari, now Kapil Sibal…Kejriwal’s apology spree continues

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday apologised to Congress leader Kapil Sibal and his son Amit Sibal.

This is Kejriwal’s third apology concerning defamation cases filed against him. So far, he has apologised to former Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

In 2013, Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal’s son had filed a defamation case against the AAP leader.

In his complaint, Amit Sibal had named Delhi CM Kejriwal, former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan and former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi. They had alleged that Kapil Sibal had a conflict in seeking to revise a tax demand on telecom major Vodafone.

As per media reports, Sibal has accepted the apology and is ready to move on. He clarified that a defamation case was filled against them because he wanted the public to know that there accusations made by Kejriwal and others were baseless.

Earlier in the day, the AAP supremo apologised to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, as per media reports.

In 2014, Nitin Gadkari had dragged Arvind Kejriwal to the court after the latter named Gadkari in his list of “corrupt politicians”. Gadkari had then sued him for defamation.

Kejriwal in his note to Nitin Gadkari has said, ” Both of us are in public life belonging to different political parties. I made ceratin statements, without regard to its verifiability, which seems to have hurt you and therefore you have filed a defamation case against me. I ahve nothing personal againbst you. I regret the same”.

“Let us put the incident behind us and bring the court proceedings to a closure. I suggest we should put our ebergy to serve the people of this country, in the spirit of mutual respect,” the note added.
