The BJP’s women’s wing, the Mahila Morcha, has filed a police complaint against UDF Congress Palakkad candidate Ramesh Pisharody, alleging that he made remarks insulting to women during the election campaign.
Mahila Morcha Palakkad district president Kavita Menon filed the complaint with the district police chief, alleging that Pisharody made anti-women statements.
“When asked by the media about the sexual harassment case against film director Ranjith, Pisharody said that harassment is a personal matter for each individual and that it is not appropriate for him to comment on it,” the Mahila Morcha stated in the complaint.
Earlier, the Congress had filed a complaint against the BJP for allegedly stopping Pisharody at Vadakkunthara during his poll campaign.
The police had also registered a case against three BJP workers, including a BJP woman councillor. The Mahila Morcha filed its complaint against Pisharody while these proceedings were ongoing.
